A Fairbury man was arrested this week after authorities served a search warrant on a residence.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant on Tuesday at 1229 3rd St. in Fairbury.

The warrant was in response to an ongoing investigation involving Aaron Shemat, 37, of Fairbury, and several allegations that he had pointed a firearm at several individuals and made threats towards them, according to a press release from the sheriff's office.

The occupants of the residence were not present at the time of the search warrant, marijuana, methamphetamine, illegal narcotic paraphernalia for the use of marijuana and methamphetamine and firearms, some of which were believed to be evidence in the assault case that Shemat had been arrested for several days prior, were all found at the address.

The case remains under investigation at this time and further charges may be filed in this case.
