A Virginia resident who fled on a bicycle from police was arrested for multiple drug and weapon violations.
London L. Maguire, 29, was arrested Thursday for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing police, carrying a concealed weapon and resisting arrest.
He was arrested after police saw him riding the bike near 13th and Grant streets. Police knew Maguire had an active arrest warrant and tried to contact him, but he fled on the bike.
Court documents state he continued to flee as officers drove along side him in a patrol car and ordered him to stop. They then pursued Maguire on foot and he was apprehended.
Court records state Maguire had two backpacks, one of which had a clear glass tube and glass container that both had white residue. The residue tested positive for methamphetamine.
The backpack also contained multiple knifes, including a meat cleaver with an eight-inch blade and a black knife with a 5 1/2 inch blade, two throwing stars and four other knives.
The second backpack contained two small glass tubes, one with methamphetamine residue. A hatchet, knife with a six-inch blade and eight-inch hand saw were also found.
