Beatrice Community Preschoolers and their families spent a warm, sunny Wednesday having a picnic in Chautauqua Park.
After a lunch of chips and hotdogs, the kids ran around playing on the park equipment, playing with bubbles and chalk or showing off on the shelter’s stage.
Since the preschool is partnered with Head Start, the program attended with flowers and soil that the students could pot in plastic cups and take home.
The preschool has had the park tradition for several years now, and over 350 people RSVP’d to attend the day’s events.
Missy Timmerman, the preschool’s director, said the picnic was an opportunity for parents to swap contact information and plan summer play dates.
“It’s just a nice end of the year way to celebrate learning and for kids to see each other outside of school,” Timmerman said.
