BHS students named all-state recipients

BHS students named all-state recipients


Beatrice High School students were recognized during a Board of Education meeting for being named academic all-state recipients.

Students were either named academic all-state by the Nebraska School Activities Association, who admits two students from each sport or organization with a 3.7 GPA or higher, or the Lincoln Journal Star, who admits juniors or seniors with a 3.6 GPA or higher and are nominated by their coach.

Neal Randel, the activities director at the high school, announced each student named all-state to the board, and explained that some students were named by both organizations.

The students include:

Dakota Adams: football; Olivia Aden: softball and basketball; Jayden Baete: tennis; Addison Barnard: softball, basketball and track; Mackenzie Barnard: golf; Blayden Bayless: football; Shaydan Bayless: track; Jaci Berke: soccer; Morgan Burenheide: cross country and tennis; Devyn Burroughs: volleyball; Evan Busboom: football; Chloe Craig: tennis; Bennett Crandall: basketball and soccer; Nicholas Crandall: music; Colt Dittbrenner: tennis; Connor Freitag: soccer; Kayla Gaertig: speech; Bailey Green: softball; Josie Guernsey: cross country; Noah Hagemeier: cross country; Zack Hoffman: football and baseball; Trent Jurgens: golf; Carley Leners: softball and basketball; Carson Licht: football and track; Hannah Lytle: softball and track; Cole Maschmann: wrestling; Olivia Matlock: play; Max Meyer: tennis; Payton Neunaber: golf; Devin Norris: soccer; McKenzie Osbourne: volleyball; Jace Pethoud: basketball; Veronica Pinkerton: cross country and track; Steven Powers: wrestling and music; Adam Riekenberg: football and soccer; Boden Ruskamp: Football; Dawson Saathoff: tennis and track; Ashton Sandman: softball; Matilda Saunders: track; Alexis Schwartz: softball, basketball and track; Whitney Schwisow: softball, basketball and soccer; Devin Smith: cross country; Sydney Southwick: golf and track; Katelin Teet: play; Ally Thavenet: volleyball; Nalin Theplikhith: soccer; Hunter Weirich: track; Zander Wells: speech; Evan Witulski: cross country; Zack Zimmerman: baseball and tennis.

"Really some outstanding students," Randel said. "Obviously they do well in activities. This is evidence that they do well academically, too. Certainly proud of them."
