Beatrice police arrested a man for drug possession Friday night after a K-9 unit detected drugs during a traffic stop.
Just after midnight a Beatrice police officer spotted a vehicle driving with no license plate near 13th and Dorsey streets.
A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was identified as Luis Partida, 30, who said he didn’t have his license with him.
According to arrest documents, Partida said he was helping someone move, but there were no moving items in the car.
A K-9 unit was called to do a sniff of the vehicle, and license information couldn’t be found for Partida.
The K-9 unit detected drugs inside the vehicle and searched the car.
A pink, glass pipe commonly used for smoking methamphetamine was found during the search in the center console, and Partida allegedly told police that any items found belonged to him. Items found during the search tested positive for methamphetamine.
Partida was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and not having valid vehicle registration.
