Man arrested after fleeing Beatrice police


Beatrice police arrested a man with an active warrant Tuesday after a short pursuit in north Beatrice.

On Tuesday at around 8:30 a.m. a Beatrice police officer was on patrol in the 400 block of North Eighth Street when she saw 23-year-old Ryan E. Peden walking northbound.

Arrest documents state the officer knew Peden to have an active Gage County bench warrant and ordered him to come to the officer.

Peden allegedly fled on foot, heading eastbound toward North Ninth Street.

He was eventually found hiding in a basement utility closet of an apartment complex in the 400 block of North Ninth Street.

Arrest documents state that in his front left coat pocket was a baggie with marijuana. He was placed under arrest for obstructing a peace officer, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
