Gage County deputies arrested a man for possession of stolen property after he allegedly stole a vehicle from Wymore.

Just before 6 a.m. Thursday deputies were dispatched to the 500 block of South Ninth Street in Wymore for reports that a man was trying to steal a Chevrolet Avalanche.

The reporting party described the man who got into the vehicle and drove away from the residence, according to Gage County Court documents. The reporting party followed the vehicle into Blue Springs.

It was located in a driveway, and Wymore police advised the driver was not in the vehicle, which was running.

A man matching the description of the suspect walked out of the residence where the vehicle was found and was detained.

He was identified as 35-year-old Bryon Forney. Forney allegedly denied driving the vehicle and said another man had taken it.

Court documents note that Forney also stated the vehicle wasn't stolen and that he had permission to drive it.

The vehicle was valued at $12,000.

Bond was set at $15,000 with a 10 percent deposit. Forney's next hearing is set for Jan. 22.
