Community Players in Beatrice will hold auditions for the musical “Mary Poppins” on Dec. 17 and 18 beginning at 7 p.m. Auditions will be held at the Players Theater, 412 Ella St., Beatrice.
The show requires a cast of approximately 10 men, nine women, one boy, one girl and an additional ensemble. Those auditioning will be asked to sing no more than one minute of a song of their choice and to read from the script. Anyone interested in auditioning is encouraged to sign up for an audition slot online at beatricecommunityplayers.com. The show will perform Feb. 15-17 and Feb. 22-24.
"Mary Poppins" follows the story of young Jane and Michael, who have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep.
"Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again," a press release said. "Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect -- even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the 'practically perfect' nanny."
Jamie Ulmer, Community Players managing artistic director, will direct the production.
Community Players auditions are open to anyone, and there is no charge to participate in the cast or crew of a show. Individuals interested in participating in a production crew, such as set painting, lights, set construction, costume or makeup are encouraged to contact the theater or fill out an online volunteer application form at the theater’s web site.
