Rarely do three separate organizations join to deliver a combined performance at the Hevelone Center.

Just such an occasion filled the high school venue Tuesday evening with the melodies of the Beatrice Regional Orchestra, Beatrice High School Concert Choir and Fairbury High School Choir performing together on stage.

The occasion was the regional orchestra’s spring concert, themed around classic folk songs from America, England and Ireland. The orchestra members played the first half without the choirs, led by Director Kevin Boesiger.

Boesiger then introduced Greg Gilpin, a guest conductor from Indianapolis. Gilpin is a music teacher, composer and studio musician, according to information from Beatrice Regional Orchestra.

The ranks of the two high school schools assembled behind the orchestra, the male singers grouped in the middle between their female peers on either side.
