Connie M. Thompson, 70, of St. Paul died unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018 at her home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. The Rev. Marcia Dorn will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul. Further visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach.

Connie was born on Nov. 18, 1947 at St. Paul, and was the daughter of C.E. and Irene (Marco) Thompson.

Connie grew up in Wolbach, where she attended Wolbach Public School and was a 1966 graduate of Wolbach High School. She then attended the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, where she graduated in 1970. After graduation, she taught Social Studies and was the volleyball coach at Wolbach High School for two years. She then returned to Lincoln where she worked at Boomers Printing Company for three years. In 1975, she moved to St. Paul and began working at the family business, Tommy-Rene Printers, Inc., publishing the Phonograph-Herald and Wolbach Messenger newspapers, where she was still actively working at the time of her death. In younger years, Connie participated in high school and town team volleyball and was also a town team softball player. She was a member and past president of the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce, a past president of the Nebraska Press Advertising Association, a member of Ray Mapes post 236 of the American Legion Auxiliary of Wolbach, and for many years, she had taught photography at Adult education classes in St. Paul. Connie was an avid fan of all Husker sports and enjoyed cross stitching, reading, photography, baking, casino trips and family gatherings.

She is survived by her three siblings: her twin brother and sister-in-law, Tommy R. and Cindy Thompson of Beatrice, her sister, Mary Jo Thompson of St. Paul and her brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Dodie Thompson of Wolbach; her nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Shane Saathoff of Wymore, Lee and Rita Thompson of Lincoln, Meagan and Brian Wysocki of Elba, Luke and Brenda Thompson of Wolbach and Ashton Thompson of Fulton, Mich.; as well as six great-nieces and two great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Paul and Wolbach Fire Departments and EMTs, or to the family's choice.
