Dorcas M. Pella
Dorcas M. Pella, 77, of Beatrice died at her home surrounded by her husband and daughters on Monday, August 5, 2019. She was born June 12, 1942 in Tecumseh and attended and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1960. She married Robert “Bob” Pella on April 15, 1961 at the St. Andrew's Catholic Church of Tecumseh and they lived in Lincoln where she worked at Bankers Life. They moved to Beatrice in July of 1961 and she worked as a secretary at Dempster Industries. She and Bob owned and operated Beatrice Marine and Auto from 1975 until 2001. She sold Avon for several years and in June of 1986, they purchased the Flower Shop in Beatrice which they owned until their retirement in 2016. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church of Beatrice and was active in the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Children's Guild and volunteered at the Bargain Box and had been a member of Mrs. Jaycees. She enjoyed going to Lake Okoboji for summer vacations, shopping trips with her daughters to Mall of America and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Bob of Beatrice; three daughters, Annette Barnard of Beatrice, Sherry (Doug) Goracke of Tecumseh and Mary (Bob) Oltean of Champaign, IL; nine grandchildren, Holly (Aaron) Folkerts, Kasey (Sara) Barnard, Hanah (Reid) Baumgartner, Lauren Zimmerman and fiancé, Jake Arbuckle, Rylee Zimmerman, Jacob (Kaylee) Oltean, Elijah Oltean, Olivia Oltean and Kyle (Ali) Goracke; four great-grandchildren. Karsen Folkerts, Kolton Oltean, Brooks Barnard, Gentry Goracke and Baumgartner twin boys in November; three sisters, MaryAnn (Wes) Damme of Cook, Norma (Pat) Burns of Beatrice and Deborah Lacey of Florissant, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Mary Anderson Lacey; son-in-law, Roger Barnard; three grandchildren, Jill Barnard, Kyle Zimmerman and Cole Oltean.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at Centenary United Methodist Church of Beatrice with Rev. Mark Schutt officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 10:00 A.M. at the church on Thursday. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with Lowell and Delores Eisenhauer in charge. Closed casket visitation will be held at Fox Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., on Wednesday from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
