Duane A. Milius

Duane A. Milius, 72, of Beatrice passed away at his home on Friday, June 14, 2019. He was born June 26, 1946 in Beatrice to Elmer and Iverna (Ziemann) Milius. Duane was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Plymouth. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1964. Duane attended Fairbury Junior College then transferred to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he graduated in 1968 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Duane was drafted into the United States Army where he served from 1968 to 1970. After returning to the U.S. from serving abroad he lived and worked in Washington D.C. for one year prior to returning home to work for the family business, Milius Hardware. He married Kathryn Oehm on November 4, 1972 at St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice. In 1982 Duane and his brother, Larry purchased Milius Hardware from their mother. After Larry's death in 2001, Duane and his wife Kathy continued to run Milius Hardware up until the time of Duane's death.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy of Beatrice; two daughters, Kris (Scott) Winters of Cordova and Emily (Jahzeel “Hoss”) Espino of Beatrice; one son, Mark (Kristi) Milius of San Clemente, CA; 11 grandchildren, Brandon (Jennifer) Winters, Andrew (Katie) Johnson, Kendra (Peter) Huhnerkoch, Donavon (Jenny) Winters, Cory and Nichole Sugden, Max and Zoe Espino, Victoria, Charlotte and Maverick Milius; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Saathoff; sisters-in-law, Lois (Darrell) Detter, Terri Oehm, Beth Baete; brother-in-law, John (Valerie) Oehm; dear family friend, Henry (Joan) Meyer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Iverna (Ziemann) Milius; brother, Larry Milius; brothers-in-law, LaVern Saathoff and Jim Oehm.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor Ernesto Medina and Pastor Leah Lawson officiating. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Wednesday in the chapel of the church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice with military rites conducted by the Nebraska Army National Guard and Schopp-Ewing-Nispel American Legion Post #243 of Plymouth. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Plymouth on Monday from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting friends and relatives from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting friends and relatives from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Viewing will also take place one hour prior to the service at the church.
