Eldora E. Germer
Eldora E. Germer, 84 years of age, of Beatrice and formerly of Plymouth passed away at Southlake Village in Lincoln on Monday evening, Jan. 1, 2018. She was born on June 3, 1933 in Louisville, Neb. to Alvin and Matilda (Flessner) Jung, and was a 1951 graduate of Fairbury High School. Eldora and Gerald "Jerry" Germer were married on April 29, 1951 in Jansen, Neb. She had farmed with Jerry for many years (doing the book-keeping), income tax preparation for H&R Block and had been employed in the office at American Tool Company in DeWitt. They lived in the Beatrice and Plymouth areas, and Eldora moved to Samaritan Springs four years ago. Eldora was a member of the Peace United Methodist Church in Plymouth. She enjoyed square dancing, attending her grandchildren's activities and traveling with Jerry. She was a seamstress and created cross stitch and other crafts.
Survivors include her children, Lorie (Dennis) Headrick of Lincoln, Carol (Terry) Williams of Omaha and Sam (Tish) Germer of Ogden, Iowa; her grandchildren, Jana (Mike) Dux of Holly Springs, N.C., Kristin (Ryan) Cable of Leawood, Kan., Brandon (Gwen) Dahl of Omaha, Michaela Dahl of Lincoln, Caitlin (Nick) Beedle of Adair, Iowa, Chelsea Germer of Atlantic, Iowa and Avery Germer of Ames, Iowa; her great-grandchildren, Ethne and Caris Dux, Graham Cable and Brynnley and Mia Dahl; as well as her sisters, Louise Meyer and Linda Preisendorf, both of Greely, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald "Jerry" Germer (2008); and her brothers, Wayne and Robert Jung.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 at the Peace United Methodist Church in Plymouth, with the Rev. Ed Milliken officiating. Public visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, with the family greeting friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Cremation has taken place, and burial of her ashes will be at a later date. A family prayer service will be held at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church. A memorial has been established to the family's choice, with the funeral home in charge.
