Elizabeth Morrow (Duff) Barr
Elizabeth Barr, 81, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018.
She was born to C. Bennett and Blanche (Morrow) Duff on May 30, 1936 in Wilkinsburg, Pa. She was raised in the Penn Hills area outside of Pittsburgh, Pa. and graduated from Penn Hills High School and Westminster College.
As a member of Hebron Church, she met the young intern pastor, Joseph Barr. They were united in marriage for more than 56 years. Together, they served churches in Cedar Creek/Murray Neb., Butler Pa., Minden Neb., Wymore/Barneston/Mission Creek Neb. and Marysville/Frankfort, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, C. Bennett and Blanche Duff; her husband, the Rev. Joseph Barr; her daughter, Karen; and her sisters, Mary Edna and Blanche.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Mary Beth (Bob Reiser) and Cindy (Dave McNair); her son-in-law, John O'Brien; her sons, Bob (Barb) and Bill; her grandchildren, David, Jake (Devin), Tyler (Christina) and Tucker (Lizzie) McNair, Keara, Keely and Sean O'Brien, J.D. and Emily Barr; her great-grandchildren, Landen, Amerrah, January and Boe McNair; her sister, Sarah; her brothers-in-law, Dick Shorthouse and Bill Barr; and her sister-in-law, Myna Lee Barr; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
Elizabeth had a true servant's heart, putting the needs of others ahead of her own. She loved being with her immediate and extended family, as well as her church families. Elizabeth cherished her time with her husband at the homestead that has been in the Barr family for more than 100 years. She enjoyed being a mom to her own children, as well as “second mom” to others. Elizabeth will be missed, especially for her kind spirit, contagious laugh and legendary hugs.
Donations in memory of Elizabeth may be made to the Mission Creek Cemetery in care of Treasurer Ron Steuer, 210 West Bethell Ave., Summerfield, KS 66541. Services are pending.
Wherry Mortuary of Pawnee City, Neb. is in charge of arrangements. Call 402-852-2387.
