Harold C. Meyer
Harold C. Meyer, 86 years of age, of Beatrice, born Jan. 29th, 1933 passed away on Sunday, July 28th, 2019 of natural causes. Harold is preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Ella Meyer. Harold was one of seven siblings: Larry Meyer (deceased), Jerry Meyer, Barbara Reilly, Donna Pacha, Caroline Etherton and Marguerite Stearns. Harold graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in Beatrice in 1950. He participated in varsity sports and was a member of the FFA. Harold served in the Korean War from 1953 to 1957 and was stationed in Guam as an active veteran.
In 1957, Harold married Carole Lynch in San Bruno, California. They were married from 1957 through 1967 and Harold worked at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard in San Francisco on electrical motors. Following his marriage with Carole, Harold moved back to Beatrice, Nebraska and married Donna Murray in 1974. They were together until Donna's passing in 1986. Harold met Marilyn Denton in 1986 and they were together until her passing in 1995. Harold married Maxine Miller in 1998 and they were married until Maxine's death in 2011. Throughout his adult life, Harold was an electrician by trade. While living in Beatrice, Harold worked for Dempsters, Huffman Co, Plymouth Electric and Fairbury Foods. Harold enjoyed country living and had many hobbies including gardening and crafts. Harold was described by many as being kindhearted and eager to help out anyone in need.
Harold had three sons: Steve Meyer, Tom Meyer (deceased) & Joe Meyer and four stepchildren: Dorothy Hanshaw, Judy Knowles, Mary Bock & Bill Murray. Harold was dearly loved by his 21 grandchildren: Kevin Meyer, Katlin Meyer (deceased), TJ Meyer, Ben Meyer, Lauren Meyer, Amanda Meyer, Frank Hanshaw, Brianne Hanshaw, Jake Hanshaw, Josh Hanshaw, Drew Peterson, Heather Hartung, Nathan Hartung, Farren Hartung, Faith Knowles, Matthew Bock, Travis Murray, Brandon Murray, Kaden Murray, Shawna Schwarts and Kayrn Johnson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, August 9, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beatrice. Interment in the St. Joseph Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Beatrice American Legion and the United States Air Force. The body will lie in state Thursday from 10 A.M.-8:00 A.M. at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice and at the church one hour preceding the service. Scriptural prayer service will be held at 6:30 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial had been established to the family's choice with the funeral home in charge.
