Lee Phelps, age 86, of Stockton, Kan., died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at his home.
He was born Oct. 11, 1923, in Beatrice, Neb., the son of Orla L. and Mary Isabelle (Rouse) Phelps. Lee was a 1941 graduate of Beatrice High School. He served our country in the United States Navy during World War II.
On Nov. 27, 1946, Lee married Ruth Mae Wiebe, in Beatrice, Neb. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage together. Lee was a pharmacist all of his working life. He and his wife owned and operated Phelps Card and Gift in Stockton for many years.
He is survived by a son, Craig of Elk City, Okla.; three daughters, Jan Perkins of Elk City, Okla., Mary Sturdy of Hays, and Kay Long of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a sister, Betty Hotovec of Fremont, Neb.; a foster son, Don Maguire of St. Cloud, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert; a sister, Orilla; and a grandson, Jeremy Phelps.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 19, at the First United Methodist Church, Stockton. Burial will be in the Stockton City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., with family present to greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Kemp Family Funeral Chapel, 805 N. Cedar, Stockton, Kan.
