Leland Edward Johnsen

Leland Edward Johnsen, 82, of Beatrice passed away in his home on Sunday, February 9, 2020. He was born on January 27, 1938 in Beatrice and was baptized and confirmed at Emmanual Lutheran Church of rural Beatrice. Leland married the love of his life, Viola Rademacher, on July 28, 1957 at Mount Calvary Lutheran church in Marysville, KS. He was a former member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and a current member of St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice. He worked for the State Department of Roads for 46 years. Leland enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, hunting, Nascar racing, traveling and spending time with his wife, family and friends. He was loved and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife, Viola of Beatrice; daughters, Melinda (Steve) Chleboun of Geneva, Monica Baete of Beatrice, and son, Randy (Linda) Johnsen of Macon, MO; six granddaughters, Tasha Traylor, Teryn (Michael) Biegert, Jaeden Johnsen, Jacee Johnsen, Haley Baete and Lacey Baete; one sister, Christena (Herman) Hofeling; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Klaus, Wanda Rademacher, Norma (Wayne) Luedders; brothers-in-law, Dale (Carolyn) Rademacher, Dean (Patricia) Rademacher and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ubbe and Lottie Dorn Johnsen, brothers, Johnny, Elmer, and Wilbur Johnsen, sisters-in-law, Hanna and Elsie Johnsen, Vonna Holdren, brothers-in-law, Melvin Rademacher, Vernon Klaus and Harvey Jobman.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor Ernesto Medina officiating. A memorial has been established to the St. John Lutheran Church. There will be no viewing. A register book will be available for signatures on Wednesday from 8:00 to 5:00 and at the church one hour preceding the services on Thursday.
