Lloyd R. Wehmer passed away at 80 years of age at Big Spring Scenic Mountain Hospital on Wednesday evening, November 28, 2018. He was born August 16, 1938 at Sterling, Nebraska and was raised on a farm outside of Sterling. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1957. He proudly served his country in the Air Force from May 1960 until May 1964. He married the love of his life Betty Jo on Sept. 11, 1965 at Pender, Nebraska. He worked many jobs through the years, but his favorite was the job of husband and father.
Lloyd is survived by three daughters, Patti Ganskow and her husband Mike, of Columbus, Nebraska, Cindy Wehmer of Big Spring Texas, Cheri Lowes and her husband Steve of Columbus Nebraska; one son, Rick Wehmer and Jodi Maulden of Hurst Texas; grand-daughters, Vicki Walker of Lincoln, Nebraska and Emma Ganskow of Wayne Nebraska; grandsons Ryan Cech of Schuyler, Nebraska and Dylan Ganskow of Lincoln, Nebraska; great-grandchildren, Carter Cech of David City Nebraska, Aria Walker and Gavin Walker of Lincoln, Nebraska. Lloyd is also survived by his sister, Erma Hazen of Beatrice Nebraska and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edna Bartels Wehmer; his wife, Betty Jo; brother, Lawrence Wehmer and brother-in-law, Shannon Hazen.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. May 18, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church of Sterling with Pastor Dennis Reich officiating. Inurnment of the cremains will be in the Sterling Cemetery. A family prayer service will be held at 12:45 p.m. at the church on Saturday. There will be no viewing or visitation. The body has been cremated. A memorial has been established to the St. John Lutheran Church.
