Marlene J. Duitsman

Marlene J. Duitsman, 72, of Pickrell died in a Lincoln hospital on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018. She was born on March 5, 1945 in Beatrice to William and Grace Wallman Johnsen and was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice. She graduated from Beatrice High School in 1963 and was married to Roger Duitsman on April 25, 1965 at St. John Lutheran Church. She worked for Pickrell State Bank and then the trust department of Beatrice National Bank and Pinnacle Bank, receiving recognition for 40 years of service from Pinnacle Bank. She was a former member of St. John Lutheran Church and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell since 1965.

Survivors include her husband, Roger of Pickrell; her son, Jeff Duitsman of Pickrell; her daughter, Michele (Michael) Golightly of Paducah, Ky.; two grandchildren, Alec and Ansley Golightly of Paducah, Ky.; her brother, Robert (Donna) Johnsen of Beatrice; her sister-in-law, Donna Moren of Port Orange, Fla.; her brother-in-law, Daniel (Carol) Duitsman of Eustis, Fla.; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Grace Wallman Johnsen; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rankin and Ella Duitsman; her step-mother-in-law, Sadie Duitsman; and her brother-in-law, Edgar Moren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, with Pastor Heather Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday morning at the church. A memorial has been established to the family for future designation, with Norman and Larry Wallman in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family greeting friends and relatives from 5 to 6:30 p.m on Wednesday.
