Marlene L. Malchow

Marlene L. Malchow, 82 years of age, passed away at Whispering Winds Care Center Thursday afternoon, August 29, 2019. She was born on August 26, 1937 at Fairbury to Louis and Lena (Lucking) Drewes. She was a 1955 graduate of Plymouth High School. Marlene and Marvin Malchow were married on September 18, 1955. She was a homemaker during her lifetime and had been a cook at the Beatrice 77 Livestock for over 10 years. Marlene was a member of the First Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Beatrice and had been in the Break & Swing Square Dance Club. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, square dancing, and baking.

Survivors include her children Connie Palmer and husband Rick of Dayton, OR, Lois Gronemeyer and husband Wendell of Plymouth, Jan Reimer and husband Jerry of Beatrice, Kathy Bierman and husband Jerry of Columbus, and Ron Malchow and wife Michelle of Plymouth; 17 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren; brother Richard Drewes of Beatrice, sister-in-law Gerane Drewes of Beatrice; brothers-in-law Deverne Malchow of Pickrell and Norman Tegtmeier of Beatrice; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Marvin Malchow; son Dennis Malchow; great-granddaughter (born at rest) Zoe Bice; and siblings Marvin Drewes, Raymond Drewes and infant sister LaVerna.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at the First Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Beatrice with Reverend Timothy Wagner officiating. Private family Interment will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Harbine. The body will lie in state from 10:00-8:00 Monday at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice and not at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Alzheimer Association at http:/act.alz.org/goto/Marlene_Malchow and First Trinity Lutheran Church with the church elders in charge.
