He attended Kansas State University and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in June 1966, and his DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) in June 1968. He moved first to Auburn, Neb. to join a small practice with Drs. Peck and Mowry before settling in Crete, Neb. where he joined the Crete Veterinary Clinic and later continued in private practice.

A man of great strength, he lived his life on his own terms and worked at his farm until his last day. Max enjoyed his work, his clients and each and every patient he ever helped. He will leave a void in the many lives he touched and will always be a one of a kind.
