Phyllis Joan Bear, 84, of Beatrice, passed away on Dec. 29, 2018 in Conroe, Texas. She was born on March 13 1934, to Roy James and Margie Hardy. She graduated from Holmesville High School in 1951 and married Thomas Bear in October of the same year.
Phyllis worked at several places in her adult life, including Sears and Montgomery Elevator Company. She and Tom loved camping so much that they purchased a KOA Kampground and they ran that until their retirement in 1984.
She is survived by her children Terrie Harless of Beatrice and Jim (Sharon) Bear of Frederick, Md, sister Wilma Philippi of Central City, Neb., 6 grandchildren: Deanna Rader of Beatrice, Amy (Brad) Sorrells of Spring, Texas, Todd (Angie) Bear of Frederick, Md, Leslie Harless of The Woodlands, Texas, Donald Harless III of The Woodlands, Texas, and Caitlyn (Kris) Wilson of Frederick, Md, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and her beloved cat, Ringo. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom, parents Roy and Margie, brother Bob Hardy, sister Marge Williams, and great-grandson DJ Whitlow.
Phyllis loved playing cards, shopping, watching the Huskers and the Royals, spending time with family and friends, and watching TV with Ringo curled up beside her.
Family will greet relatives and friends on January 22, 2019 at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore from 1-3, with a short graveside service starting at 3:15 at the Blue Springs Cemetery.
