Richard D. Rowden Sr.
Richard Dale Rowden Sr., 60 years of age, of Blue Springs passed away at his home on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018. He was born on Oct. 10, 1957 in Beatrice to Jerry and Jackie (Orwen) Rowden and was a lifelong resident of Gage County. Rick was a 1975 graduate of Beatrice High School, and later became a master machinist while employed at Dempsters. He was later employed at Landol's in Marysville, Kan. for 27 years. Rick and Shawn L. Sawyer were married on Dec. 4, 1982. He had been an Eagle Scout and member of the NRA and the Redwing Association. Rick was an antique lover, and collected fruit jars and crocks, and he loved his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Shawn of Fremont; his children, Richard D. Rowden Jr. and wife, Nikki, and Christina "CJ" Rowden and significant other, Kamal Kambal, all of Lincoln; his grandchildren, Destiny Rowden, Richard D. Rowden III, Axel Rowden and Dalyah Kambal; his siblings, Greg Rowden, Jerry Rowden Jr. and Jacque Rosebaugh and her husband, Jim. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Jackie (Orwen) Rowden; and his best friend, Herman Jones.
A celebration of life reception will be held from 1-10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018 at the Wymore Community Center. There will be no viewing or visitation, as cremation has taken place. Burial of his ashes will be at a later date at the Blue Springs Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the family's choice, with the funeral home in charge.
