Ronald G. Jurgens, age 71 of Lincoln passed away at his home on Jan. 3, 2019. He was born on May 13, 1947 in Odell to Henry and Clara (Theye) Jurgens. Ron was a 1965 graduate of Barneston High School and then attended Barber School. He was self employed as a barber for several years and then was a car detail parts supplier. On April 20, 1968, he was united in marriage to Cheryl Viets. He was a member of Capital City Christian Church in Lincoln and a past member of Immanuel (Stateline) Lutheran Church in Rural Wymore. Ron played drums for his band The Unknowns and enjoyed hunting, fishing, working outside, and watching and playing baseball.
Ron is survived by his wife of 51 years, Cheryl of Lincoln; son, Cory Jurgens of Lincoln; sister, Mary Beth Acree and husband, Bill of Topeka, Kans.; several nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019 at the Immanuel (Stateline) Lutheran Church with John Snyder officiating. Burial will be at the Liberty Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and at the church one hour prior to the service Thursday.
