A Pickrell man is in critical condition after being thrown from a dirt bike on Saturday.

At around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Gage County sheriff’s deputies and Beatrice Fire and Rescue, Pickrell Rescue, Cortland Rescue and Clatonia Rescue were called to South 38th and East Cherry roads for a wreck involving a dirt bike and pickup truck.

According to a press release, 22-year-old Dirk M. Akeson, of Pickrell, was driving a dirt bike south on South 38th Road when he collided with an eastbound Chevy pickup truck driven by 27-year-old Dillon E. Wallman, of Adams.

Akeson was ejected from the dirt bike. He was taken by Beatrice Fire and Rescue to Bryan Health West hospital and later transported to the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, where he is currently listed in critical condition.
