Inez E. Stumme, 90, passed away at Heritage College View in Hastings on July 15, 2019. Inez was born on the farm in Hastings to Arthur and Mabel (Pfeifer) Uhrmacher on December 11, 1928. She was their fourth child in a family of nine. She married Charles Stumme on May 1, 1949 at Hastings. They moved to Chillicothe, MO in 1958 and in 1961 moved to Beatrice. She was a bookkeeper for J. C. Penney for over 20 years, retiring in 1985. She was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Beatrice, where she had served as treasurer, and was now a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice. Inez enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, baseball games and making quilts. Her stitches of love resulted in making quilts for each family member, including grandchildren, church donations and several for the Carol Joy Holling Camp Quilt Auction in Ashland.
Inez is survived by her two sons, LeRoy Stumme and wife Nancy of Kearney, David Stumme of Surprise, AZ; her daughter, Peggy Crawford of Beatrice; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Stumme, Michael Stumme and wife Jayne, Christopher Crawford, Lexi Zinnel and husband Ryan; three great-grandchildren, Jordon Stumme, Reagan Stumme and Nixon Zinnel; three sisters, Muriel Krull, Erma Parks and Lucy Watts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, who died August 20, 2005; two brothers, Eddie and Elmer Uhrmacher and three sisters, Lanora Uhrmacher, Helen Pedersen and Hazel Hueske.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church Chapel of Beatrice with Pastor Leah Lawson officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family's choice. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday and at the church one hour preceding the services on Saturday.
