Cosgrove Music Club
The club met on Monday, Nov. 5, at the home of Debbie Smith with 14 members present. The theme for the year is New York, New York. The group enjoyed "Autumn in New York" presented by Karen Jobman, Marsha Barr, Sharon Gydesen and Mary Shelton.
A song and dance routine to theme from "New York, New York" was presented by Karen, Marsha and Sharon, accompanied by Mary. "Carmen" by Bizet is being performed at the Metropolitan Opera, so Habanera was played by Karen and Sharon as a clarinet-piano duet. "Toreador Song" was performed by Karen and Marsha as a clarinet-piano duet.
At the Philharmonic, you can hear selections by Beethoven. So Marsha and Sharon played Minuet in G as a piano duet. Karen and Marsha played another piano duet -- the opening theme to Symphony #5. Ode to Joy was sung by the group, accompanied by Marsha. On Broadway, you could go see a performance of Chicago. First the group sang "Give My Regards to Broadway." Then Karen and Sharon sang "All That Jazz," accompanied by Marsha. The final selection of the program was a medley of Jersey Boys songs sung by Karen and Sharon, accompanied by Marsha. After the business meeting, Marsha and Karen provided a tasty pumpkin dessert that was enjoyed by all. The next meeting will be Dec. 2 at the Villa.
