Many of you are 4-H alumni or worked with your children in 4-H. We love 4-H positive youth development! What are the values you associate with 4-H? Big dreams. Hard work. Life skills. Respect. Responsibility. Positive character traits. Work ethic. Grit and determination. Disappointments and purple ribbon success. February is 4-H month and Valentine’s month; we celebrate 4-H members, parents, volunteers, alumni, and community supporters, sweet during the month and all year through. February is a great time to join 4-H, volunteer as a leader, or get your business or organization on board as a 4-H sponsor. Contact the Extension Office, 402-223-1384. Online 4-H enrollment deadline is May 1. 4-H and chocolate are sweet, 365 days a year.

Celebrate President’s Day
My favorite quotes by one of the greatest, Abraham Lincoln... “Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be... I will prepare and some day my chance will come... The best way to destroy an enemy is to make him a friend... Whatever you are, be a good one... You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today... No man has a good enough memory to make a successful liar... If I were two-faced, would I be wearing this one?... I like to see a man proud of the place in which he lives. I like to see a man live so that his place will be proud of him... In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”
4-H tailgate kick-off
You’re invited to tailgate and celebrate Gage County 4-H, Tuesday, April 9, 5-8 p.m., 4-H Building in Beatrice. Share the fun and learning in 4-H, enjoy tailgate food, tons of prizes, enrollment station open for 4-H members and Clover Kids.
Planning your kids’ summer activities? All kids are invited to join in the fun and learning at 4-H camps this summer, Eastern Nebraska 4-H Center, Gretna, and the State 4-H Camp, Halsey. Compare these figures: in a typical week's time... 51 minutes spent outdoors by the average kid and 623 minutes at the computer. At a week of summer camp, a child spends 3,600 minutes outdoors and 0 minutes watching TV, talking on a cell phone or playing video games. Pick up the 2019 brochure at the Extension Office. Registration discount prior to April 15. Kids will come home with new friends, confidence, leadership, outdoor skills, and a lifetime of memories.
Summer is coming and there's nothing like our local 4-H Camp Renegade, June 18-19 (8-10 year olds) and a new Camp Venture, June 20-21 (ages 11-13), both at Camp Jefferson near Fairbury. 4-H enrollment not required.
