The City of Beatrice Public Properties is in the middle of the summer season.
First thing this spring, as soon as the weather permitted, the new Sertoma splash pad construction completed at Astro Park located at 19th and Hoyt Streets near the north water tower. Sertoma along with the City initiated the project and additional funds were provided by many other community businesses, organizations, and community members. Water play at the splash pad will allow children to explore and interact with other children. It is a great outdoor activity for community and neighborhood residents to interact, meet new people and encourage physical activity.
Coming soon, four benches, donated by community members, will be placed around the splash pad to provide more seating for park visitors.
Keep Beatrice Beautiful received a grant from the Toro Foundation to landscape and seed the new additions to the Chief Standing Bear Trail near the Dempster’s building along south 6th Street. The project is to commence as soon as weather permits. This six block addition is the last piece of trail to connect the Homestead Trail going north to Lincoln and the Chief Standing Bear Trail traveling south to the Marysville, Kansas for biking and hiking.
The City of Beatrice – Public Properties Department encourages everyone to get outdoors and visit each of the many City of Beatrice parks, along with the Big Blue Water Park, Big Blue Dog Run and many other great facilities. Have a great summer.
