The Pawnee County Arts Council will sponsor its annual Art & Quilt Show on Friday & Saturday, April 26-27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday April 28 from noon to 4 p.m. Those attending will enjoy a wide variety of media created by many artists, primarily from Pawnee County and Southeast Nebraska. The art will be on display in the basement of Union Bank and Trust Co., 514 G St. in Pawnee City.
Stroll through a collection of wood quilt blocks, also known as barn quilt blocks because people often display them on a barn or other outdoor building. Enjoy viewing photography, oil paintings, watercolor paintings, taxidermy, woodworking, cross stitch Christmas ornaments displayed on a tree, and a surprise collection by local artists. Be sure to see the wide variety of art techniques taught in our local schools and how each student expresses his or her own creativity.
In addition, there will be a variety of quilts in various patterns and fabrics, both antiques and current creations.
If you need auxiliary assistance, please contact Virginia Schlender 402-852-2037 by Thursday, April 25. Free will donations are welcome.
The annual Southeast Nebraska Outdoor Band Concert and Ice Cream social will be held on the Court House lawn again on Sunday, June 30. Bring blankets or chairs and the whole family for this traditional summer concert.
