Celebrate spring with Homestead National Monument of America and Nebraska Education and Telecommunications Network (NET) at Spring LIVE. The Education Center grounds will be ‘spring’ing with activity on April 20, 2019. This free family event will include numerous booths featuring: activities, crafts, and abundant information on different citizen science organizations, their projects and how to get involved. It will also highlight the many ways citizen scientists can get involved at Homestead National Monument of America.
Come learn how you can get involved in citizen science activities you can do at your home or in your local park such as the Great Sunflower Project, Celebrate Urban Birds, Track a Lilac, Cornell Bird Cams, and the Monarch Larva Monitoring Project. Join a guided hike to learn about the different critters that inhabit Homestead while gathering data about the biodiversity. There will be booths from partners like the Nebraska Master Naturalists, Nebraska Game and Parks, Ducks Unlimited, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Science Department. These booths will focus on interactive projects featuring a variety of science activities you can do with groups or your family. To learn more go to www.nps.gov/home.
