The Beatrice Exmark Legion Seniors couldn't get its offense going Wednesday against Lincoln North Star.

Beatrice fell to North Star 5-0 at Christenson Field in Beatrice.

Exmark only managed two hits in the game, but Beatrice's pitching was just as effective through five innings.

The score was tied 0-0 entering the fifth inning, but North Star finally broke through for two runs in the top of the fifth.

That fifth inning rally started with two outs when a hit batsman and a droped third strike put runners at first and second. An RBI double brought both runners in, making it 2-0.

North Star added another run in the sixth inning. With one out, a walk, a stolen base and an RBI single led to the run to make it 3-0.

Two walks and an error led to two more runs for North Star in the seventh inning, making the final score 5-0.

Beatrice's scoring chances were minimal. They got a lead off single from Brody Nelson in the second inning, but he never made it passed second base.

Exmark tried to rally with two outs in the fifth inning when Peyton Murphy walked and Zack Zimmerman singled to put runners at first ans second, but both were left stranded.

Beatrice went down in order in both the sixth and seventh inning.

Qwin Zabokrtsky pitched 5.1 innings for Beatrice, giving up three runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out eight and walking four. Peyton Murphy pitched 1.2 innings, giving up two unearned runs on no hits. He struck out four and walked two.

Beatrice's defense committed one error in the game.

Offensively, Beatrice had just two hits, a single each from Brody Nelson and Zack Zimmerman.

Exmark is now 7-5 on the season. They will be in action again on Friday when they travel to Seward. They will then travel to Sherman Field in Lincoln on Tuesday to face Lincoln High.

Beatrice will be at home again on Wednesday when they host Fremont at Christenson Field.
