LINCOLN -- A two-out RBI single by Cade Argo in the top of the eighth gave the lead and their pitching was able to hold off Omaha Skutt in the bottom of the eighth.

The Titans defeated the SkyHawks 7-6 in an elimination game.

Grant Papenhagen got the eighth inning rally started with a leadoff walk, After a strikeout, Tyler Ruhl singled to put runners at first and second.

Norris' next hitter was retired, but Argo's RBI single gave Norris the lead, electrifying the Titan crowd.

Omaha Skutt wasn't done, though. They led off the bottom of the eight with a double, but a sacrifice bunt attempt went straight to the pitcher and the Titans were able to get the out at third base.

A strikeout then had Norris one out away from a win, but back-to-back walks loaded the bases for the SkyHawks. A strikeout ended the game, though, sparking a celebration in the Norris dugout.

Norris moves onto play another elimination game at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at Haymarket Park in Lincoln.

Norris' offense came out on fire early, scoring three runs in the first inning. Austin Schultz led off the game with a double and then with one out, he scored on Sayre Burnley's RBI double. 

A single by Zach Argo put runners at first and third and a sacrifice fly by Cade Kohout extended the Norris lead to 2-0.

Joe Osborn then reached on a three base error, which allowed the third runner to cross home plate.

Omaha Skutt bounced right back with three runs in the bottom of the first. A single, a walk and a sacrifice bunt put runners at second and third with one out. A walk loaded the bases, but a fly out had the Titans one out away from getting out of the inning.

A walk brought in a run and a two-RBI single brought in two more runs to make it 3-3.

Norris got runners at first and second with one out in the second inning, but walked away with no runs. Neither team threatened again until the bottom of the third when Omaha Skutt managed to get a runner to third, but left him stranded.

With two outs in the top of the fourth, Tyler Ruhl worked a walk and then scored on Schultz's two out RBI triple, giving the Titans a 4-3 lead.

Omaha Skut came up with a big two-out rally in the bottom of the fourth. A two base error got the rally started and a walk and wild pitch put runners at first and third.

An RBI single tied the game and an two-RBI double made it 6-4 in favor of the SkyHawks. 

Omaha Skutt managed to get runners at first and second with two outs in the bottom of the fifth, but relief pitcher Colbey Behrends was able to come in and induce a fly ball out to centerfield, ending the inning.

Norris had a golden opportunity in the sixth inning when Osborn and Papenhagen both walked to lead off the inning. A strikeout and a double play ended that scoring threat.

In the bottom of the sixth, Skutt was able to load the bases with two outs, but Behrends was able to get another fly ball out to end the inning.

Norris was down to their final three outs and then was down to their final two outs when their leadoff man in the seventh inning was retired. Singles by Cade Argo and Burnley kept Norris' hopes alive, but a foul out had the Titans down to their final out.

A passed ball put runners at second and third before Cade Kohout came through with a big two-RBI double to tie the game 6-6.

In the bottom of the seventh, a leadoff walk brought Grant Papenhagen into pitch. A sacrifice but and a walk put runners at first and second with one out. A hit batsmen then loaded the bases with two outs.

The next Skutt batter worked the count to 3-0, but Papenhagen battled back and forced a fly out, keeping the game tied and forcing extra innings.

Tyler Ruhl pitched the first 5.1 innings for Norris and gave up six runs on six hits while striking out three. Behrends and Papenhagen finished the game out.

The Titans improve their record to 20-7 on the season.
