JCC, HTRS and Southern advance to B semis

The Johnson County Central girls coasted to a win in the first round of the MUDECAS B Division.

The second-seeded Lady Thunderbirds defeated seventh seeded Tri County 52-17 to advance to Thursday's semifinals.

JCC was led in scoring by Zadie Plager, who had 17 points while Dakota Ludemann had 13 points and Jazi Aschemen had 10 points. Monica Thipphavong had eight points and Jorden Hunzeker and Hayley Neeman had two points each.

Tri County was led by Morgan Stokebrand's five points while Kynlee Uher, Sam Rainey and Hannah Holtmeier had three points each. Karli Scherling had two points and Breanna Chapman had two points.

JCC will play at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday against (HTRS/Palmyra) at Southeast Community College with the winner of that advancing to the B Division championship on Friday.

Tri County will play at 5 p.m. on Friday against (HTRS/Palmyra) in a consolation game at SCC.

HTRS 53, Palmyra 34

Humboldt-Table Rock Steinauer entered the MUDECAS Tournament as the No. 2 seed in the B Division and they handled seventh-seeded Palmyra 53-34 Monday night.

HTRS jumped out to an 11-6 lead in the first quarter and led 25-17 at half time. HTRS outscored Palmyra 20-7 in the third quarter to open a 45-24 lead. They coasted to the win from there.

Carissa Allen led the way for HTRS with 19 points while Ellie Schaardt had 11 and Kaithlyn Glathar h ad 10. Tara Zimmerling had six, Peyton Schaardt had three and Natalie Novak and Aly Howe had two each.

Palmyra was led by Clara Whyman's 11 points.

HTRS advances to the B Division semifinals where they'll meet third-seeded Johnson County Central at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at SCC. Palmya will play Tri County at 5 p.m. on Friday in a consolation game at SCC.

Southern 60, Parkview Christian 20

Southern is the top seed in the MUDECAS B Division and they got past eighth-seeded Parkview Christian 60-20 Monday night.

Southern jumped out to a 16-2 lead in the first quarter and led 32-5 at half time, allowing them to coast to the win in the second half.

Kaylee Klover led the way for Southern with 10 points while Shelby Saathoff had nine points and CAllie Cooper had eight points.

Tori Smith and Alaina Klover had six points each while Claire Hookstra had five points, Kendrea Troxel and Riley Forney-Short had four points each and Kambree Singleton had two points.

Parkview Christian was led by Aleni Rogers' 17 points while Anessa Anderson had three points.

With the win, Southern advances to play in the semifinals at 5 p.m. against the winner of Monday's late game between fourth-seeded Lewiston and fifth-seeded Pawnee City. That game was not over by press time Monday night.

Parkview Christian will play in a consolation game Friday at 3:30 against the loser of Monday's late game between Lewiston and Pawnee City.
