GRETNA -- The Beatrice golf team shot a 337 on Tuesday at the Gretna Invite, which was good enough for second place.
Orangemen coach Dick Stuart said his team played better on Tuesday and also got some breaks, which allowed them to eliminate the big numbers.
Graham Southwick led the way with a 76, which was good enough for third place individually.
"Graham had another good day, finishing in a tie for second and getting a third place medal," Stuart saidl
Andrew Paquette finished seventh individually with an 80 for the Orangemen.
"Andrew had a career day, finishing seventh," Stuart said.
Rounding out the Beatrice scoring was Caleb McKernan with a 90, Trenton Jurgens with a 91 and Dakoda Freitag with a 101.
"Caleb and Trenton continue to improve in certain areas and improved their back nine scores," Stuart said. "Dakoda also had his best score of the year and we will have a meet this year where we will need him."
Elkhorn won the team championship with a score of 323.
Stuart said he talked to his team after the Seward Invite about playing all 18 holes and finishing better.
"Each of our players' back nine was at least two shots better than their front," Stuart said. "We need to work on our weaknesses to be able to achieve the goals that we have set."
Norris also competed in the tournament and finished ninth as a team with a 366. Grant Oden led the way for Norris with an 88 while Carson Ellerbrake had a 92, Logan Zimmer and Tristan Bade had a 93 each and Ty Hays had a 95.
