COLUMBUS -- The Beatrice girls golf team traveled to Columbus on Monday to compete in the NSAA Class B State Tournament at Elks Country Club.
After first round action, the Lady O is in 12th place. Scottsbluff is in first place, Gering is nine stroke behind Scottsbluff in second place at Ogallala is in third place.
Payton Neunaber is leading the way for Beatrice with a first round score of 101, which is good for a tie for 37th place. She shot a 48 on the front nine and a 53 on the back nine.
Sydney Southwick and Mackenzie Barnard aren't far behind, both shooting a 105 with puts them in a tie for 45th place. Southwick shot a 51 on the front nine and a 54 on the back nine while Barnard fired a 49 on the front nine and a 56 on the back nine.
Makenna Hutt finished with a 108 after shooting a 51 on the front nine and a 57 on the back nine. Abby Jones had a 54 on the front nine and a 55 on the back nine for a score of 109.

Norris had one qualifier in Emma Severson and she finished with a first round score of 93 after a 47 on the front nine and a 46 on the back nine. That puts her in a tie for 18th place.
Aurora's Danica Badura is leading the individual standings after the first day with a score of 72. Anna Kelley of Scottsbluff is in second place with a 76 and Lauren Goertz of Omaha Duchesne is third with a 78.
The tournament will resume on Tuesday with one more 18-hole round.
In the Class C State Tournament being hosted by Lake Maloney Golf club in North Platte, Tri County's Carissa Lijewski shot a 102 after shooting a 46 on the front nine and a 56 on the back nine.
Also in Class C, Humbodt-Table Rock-Steinauer's Kaitlyn Frey shot a 58 on the front nine and a 57 on the back nine for a 115.
