The Beatrice girls golf team finished third in the Class B Division of the Beatrice Invite Tuesday.

The Lady O finished third at the Beatrice Country Club, putting them behind Class B Champion Omaha Duchesne (323) and runner-up Omaha Skutt (421)

Norris finished fourth at 444 and Fairbury fifth at 508. Platteview and Wahoo rounded out the Class B standings.

Beatrice Coach Dick Stuart said his team improved by 10 shots from their previous tournament at Holmes Golf Course in Lincoln, which he was encouraged by because he things BCC is a tougher course.

"Overall, I think we are getting off the tee better than we originally thought we would," Stuart said. "So that's been a positive, but still needs consistency. As a group, we have to improve inside 75 yards. We need to be able to get it on the green from that distance and have no more than three putts. We are giving away a lot of shots inside that distance."

Sydney Southwick was the top finisher for the Lady O. Her score of 104 was good enough for a ninth place medal.

"Sydney hit it well off the tee like she did last week, but she's one that needs to get better inside 75 yards," Stuart said. "When she does that, she'll be able to break 100 consistently."

Payton Neunaber and Blake Trusty both finished tied for 12th with scores of 108.

Mackenzie Barnard finished tied for 14th with a score of 109 and Abby Jones finished with a 131.

"If the whole group can keep working on their short game and can improve by five to seven strokes, we can be a threat at the end of the season," Stuart said.

Norris was led by Valerie Gabel, who finished fourth with an 88 while Lauren Havlat finished eighth with a 102. Olivia Lentfer finished 18th with a 125, Grace Gutzmer finished 22nd with a 129 and Makenna Kirchhofff finished 23rd with a 130.

Fairbury was led by Sara Mitchell, who finished 16th with a 110. Evie Schwab finished 18th with a 125 while Casey Nimmich finished 25th with a 135, Lauren Patton finished 26th with a 138 and Shavara Kroeker finished 29th with a 150.

Duchesne swept the top three Class B individual spots. Kristin Goertz won with a 73, Anna Boor finished second with a 77 and Lauren Goertz finished third with an 81.

Papillion-LaVista won the Class A Division with a score of 364, beating out Millard West's 375 and Lincoln Pius X's 380. Millard North (392) and Ralston (489) rounded out the Class A Standings.

Individually, Papillion LaVista's Peyton Savington won with a 78, Millard North's Jazmine Taylor finished second with an 84 and Alyson Juehn finished third with an 85.

Beatrice will be in action again on Thursday when they travel to the Fairbury Invite.
