OMAHA -- The Beatrice girls swim team managed to get a win in a dual against Ralston/Gross Thursday at Ralston.
The Beatrice Co-op girls team defeated Ralston Gross 105-97. The boys team, however, fell 126-76.
"This was a great conference win for our girls team," said Beatrice Coach Marian Wallen. "We were very pleased with the performances tonight. We had some tough injuries and some illnesses, so some of our younger swimmers had to step up and compete in some different events. Having many versatile swimmers help us to compete and spread the points out during the meet."
Wallen said the boys team also had some strong finishes and many personal bests.
"We are hoping some rest over the holiday break will help the swimmers that have been ill gain back their strength," Wallen said.
First place finishers include Mikwena Lierman in the 50 freestyle; Matthew Griffeth in diving; The boys 200 freestyle relay of Colton Starck, RJ Suey, Jacob Mason and Aiden Morrow; The girl’s 400 freestyle relay of Mikwena Lierman, Ellie Lenners, Crystal Craft and Maddy Wagner.
Personal best swims include Cailey Biesecker in the 500 free and 200 free; Colton Starck in the 200 free, 100 free, 100 fly and the 50 free; Ellie Lenners in the 200 Individual Medley, Erik Holloway in the 200 Individual Medley and 100 backstroke; Morgan Buhr in the 50 free; Hayden Stevens in the 50 free, Noah Bratt in the 50 free; Sam Fortner in the 50 free and 100 free; Morgan McCubbin in the 500 free; Andrew Yung in the 500 freestyle; David Gray in the 100 backstroke; Tyler Rice in the 100 freestyle.
