The Beatrice softball team grabbed an early lead against York and never relinquished it.

The Lady O beat York 9-1 Tuesday night at Hannibal Park in Beatrice.

Beatrice scored four runs in the first inning. Whitney Schwisow got the rally started with a one out single and she scored on Addie Barnard's RBI double.

Barnard then scored on Hannah Lytle's RBI single to make it 2-0. Tavia Hausman kept the rally going with a single and Avery Barnard's two-RBI single made it 4-0 after one inning.

The Lady O left the bases loaded in the second inning and left one runner on base in the third inning. A double and a single led to York's only run in the top of the fourth inning.

Beatrice responded with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Olivia Aden reached with a one out single and went to second on Schwisow's sacrifice.

Addie Barnard then walked and both runners would score on an RBI single by Lytle, making it 6-1.

Beatrice put the game away in the fifth inning. Avery Barnard led off with a walk and Rylee Pangborn walked. With one out, Reganne Henning reached on a bunt single to load the bases.

Olivia Aden's two-RBI single made it 8-1. After a walk to Schwisow, Addie Barnard's RBI single made it 9-1 and ended the game.

Beatrice improves their record to 14-2 on the season and will be in action again on Thursday when they travel to Seward.

Lady O volleyball falls to Omaha Skutt

The Beatrice volleyball team battled hard, but ultimately fell to Class B No. 1 ranked Omaha Skutt in three sets.

Beatrice lost the match 25-13, 25-18, 25-19, dropping their record to 2-3 on the season. Omaha Skutt improves to 6-1.

Mariah Allen had seven kills for Beatrice while Kaitlyn Church and Devyn Burroughs had five kills each. Chelsea Leners had three kills, Avery Gaertig had two kills and Sadie Glynn and Jayden Baete had a kills each. Coudeyras had 23 assists.

Burroughs and Coudeyras had two blocks each. Mak Hatcliff had 24 digs while Allen had 13 digs.

Beatrice will be in action again this weekend when they travel to the Bishop Neumann Invite.
