SYRACUSE -- The Beatrice boys and girls track and field teams both finished in the top three Thursday at the Syracuse Invite.
The Lady O finished with a second place score of 85 points. Syracuse was the winning girls team with a score of 119.
The Orangemen finished third with 95.5 points, putting them behind Crete (135) and Norris (125).
Addie Barnard placed in four events, including second place finishes in the 200-meter dash, the long jump and the triple jump. She also came away with a third place finish in the 100-meter dash.
Veronica Pinkerton managed a first place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.97.
Jamison Theye earned a second place medal in the 800-meter run and a third place medal in the 1,600-meter run.
Six other Lady O athletes earned individual medals. Shaydan Bayless finished fourth in the shot put while Sydney Weirich finished fourth in the discus.
Mak Hatcliff finished fifth in the 1,600-run while Jess Fujan finished sixth in high jump and Tessa Hoffman finished sixth in triple jump.
The girls 3,200-relay team of Pinkerton, Hatcliff, Theye and Jenna Junker finished first with a time of 10:14.41. The 1,600-relay team of Hoffman, Trinity Eichenberger, Caitlin Schaefer and Pinkerton finished second.
The 400-relay team came away with a sixth place finish.
On the boys side, Dillon Damme once again led the way for the Orangemen with three medals, including first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.36. He finished second in both the 200-meter dash and long jump.
Andrew Mahoney earned a first place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.59. He also finished second in the 100-meter dash behind Damme.
Brayden Frerichs notched a first place finish in the 3,200-run with a time of 10:36.13. He also finished second in the 1,600-run.
Also earning medals for the Orangemen was Dillon Buss finishing thired in the 400-meter dash, Carson Licht finishing fifth in the pole vault, Jace Pethoud finished fifth in the high jump, Zach Thies finishing sixth in the 100-meter dash and Diego Rodriguez finishing tied for sixth in the high jump.
All of Beatrice's relay teams earned medals. The 400-relay team of Mahoney, Buss, Thies and Damme finished in first place with a meet record time of 43.48. They broke their own meet record from last year in which they finished with a time of 44.25.
The 1,600-relay team of Mahoney, Colton Gronewold, Pethoud, and Buss finished second while the 3,200-relay team of Gronewold, Noah Hagemeier, Adam Tjeerdsma and Austin Raymer finished fourth.
The Beatrice boys field relay team of Evan Sueper, Camden Parde, Jerad Humble and Christian Borzekofski finished first. That event was not scored.
Beatrice coach Karen Schlueter said the coaching staff was pleased with how their team competed.
"We finally had some warm weather," Schlueter said. "We had 29 personal records for the team and the sprinters had to run into the wind or else they probably would have set some personal records, too. The field events girls and boys had a great time running the 400-field relay. The boys dominated."
The Beatrice track and field teams will be in action again on Saturday when they travel to the York Invite.
