CRETE -- The Beatrice wrestling team pulled off a thrilling win over Crete Tuesday night in Crete.
The dual was still tied 42-42 after all matches were complete and the Orangemen won the tiebreaker, which gave them the 43-42 win.
Jerad Humble got things started for the Orangemen when he scored a pinfall win over Cody Lomax in the 220-pound division to give Beatrice an early 6-0 lead.
Crete would get a forfeit win in the 285-pound division, tying the dual at 6-6.
Both Tanner York and Drew Arnold picked up forfeit win for Beatrice in the 106-pound division and the 113-pound division to give Beatrice an 18-6 lead.
In the 120-pound division, Crete's Thomas Buchanan beat Beatrice's Will Reimer by pinfall to close the deficit to 18-12.
Beatrice's Kaleb Dayhuff won by forfeit in the 126-pound division and Ben Garland followed that up with a pinfall win over Crete's Tanner Swain in the 132-pound division to extend Beatrice's lead to 30-12.
Crete's Blake Sears then notched a late pinfall win over Beatrice's Quintin Hartin in the 138-pound division to make it 30-18.
In the 145-pound division, Dylan Bassinger of Beatrice scored a pinfall over Crete's Tanner Fraas to extend the lead back to 36-18.
Crete then went on to win the next three matches. Carson Johansen scored a pinfall win over Coleton Williamson in the 152-pound division, Clayton VanHorn got a pinfall win over Jacob Crute in the 160-pound division and Dylan White got a forfeit win in the 170-pound division.
Those three wins tied the score at 36-36.
In the 182-pound division, Jason Steven was able to give Beatrice the lead with a pinfall win over Guilmar Estrada, but Crete's Kolton Johnson answered with a pinfall win over Aaron Shumaker in the 195-pound division, making the score 42-42.
In the event of a tie, the tiebreaker is whichever team scores the most first round points, which is why the Orangemen were able to claim the 43-42 win.
The Orangemen wrestlers will be in action again this weekend when they travel to the Grand Island Invite.
