OMAHA -- The Freeman boys 3,200-meter relay team claimed a Class C State Championship on Friday while Johnson County Central's Ashlei McDonald won the girls 3,200-meter run.

The Falcon 3,200-relay team of Holden Ruse, Gerrett Lenners, Kaleb Unvert and Logan Anderson finished with a winning time of 8:15.51. They led for most of the race, but West Holt tried to make a late run at Freeman.

Anderson was able to hold them off, though, winning by a tenth of a second.

Johnson County Central's Ashlei McDonald also claimed a state championship on Friday in the 3,200-meter run. She finished with a time of 11:37.67, which was nearly a full five seconds better than second place.

Freeman's Colby Sugden finished with a time of 11.17 in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash, which qualifies him for Saturday's finals. He also finished with a time of 22.97 in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash, which also qualifies for Saturday's finals.

For the Freeman Lady Falcons, Bryleigh Hartwig finished ninth in the 3,200-meter run.

Freeman's girls 3,200-relay team of Brylie Hartwig, RaeAnn Hartwig, Ashton Niles and Ashley Oltman finished third with a time of 10:05.21.

Wilber-Clatonia's Thomas Lokken finished ninth in the 3,200-meter run. Mason Zimmerman finished eighth in the preliminaries of the 110-hurdles with a time of 15.86, which qualifies him for Saturday's final. Coltin Rezabek also raced in the 110-hurdles, but his time of 16.26 fell short of qualifying.

Mason Combs finished tied for 10th in the high jump for the Wolverines. Layne Evans was disqualified in the preliminaries of the 300-hurdles.

Wilber-Clatonia's boys 3,200-relay team of Thomas Lokken, Layne Evans, Dawson Hoover and Seth Vlasak finished seventh.

Shaylee Bloom finished 15th in the pole vault for the Lady Wolverines while Anoulin Souvannavong finished 19th in the long jump.

Tri County's Evan Larson finished 23rd in the 3,200-meter run.

Tri County's boys 3,200-relay team of Creighton Niemeyer, Dominic Smith, Evan Larson and Jack Holsing finished 13th.

For the Lady Trojans, Andie Koch finished 15th in the 3,200-meter run while her teammate, Savannah Gerlach, finished 21st in the same race. Kelsey Manchester finished 25th in the discus.

Tri County's girls 3,200-relay team of Hannah Holtmeier, Andie Koch, Madison Kirchoff and Ella Crawford finished sixth.

For the Johnson County Central boys, Josh Bailey finished 11th in the shot put while Simon Rother finished 15th in the shot put. Tucker Liberty finished 15th in the triple jump.

Southern's Connor Bradley finished with a time of 53.95 in the preliminaries of the 400-meter dash, which falls short of qualifying for Saturday's finals.

Saturday's events are scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. at Omaha Burke Stadium.
