DAVID CITY -- A pair of three run home runs helped spark the Beatrice offense Thursday in the B-4 District Tournament.

The top-seeded Lady O defeated fourth-seeded Fairbury 9-1 in David City.

With a win, Beatrice will play at 11 a.m. on Friday against Crete in a game between the tournament's only two remaining unbeaten teams.

Hannah Lytle and Tavia Hausman both hit home runs in the game while Addie Barnard pitched and allowed just one run.

Beatrice's offense blitzed Fairbury early, posting five runs on the scoreboard before Fairbury could even record an out.

Olivia Aden got the inning started with a single. She went to second on a wild pitch and scored on Whitney Schwisow's single to make it 1-0.

A single by Barnard and an RBI single by Sandman made it 2-0. Lytle then blasted a three-run home run to give Beatrice an early 5-0 cushion.

Fairbury got one of those runs back when Brittyn Wentz hit a solo home run that just narrowly cleared the center field fence, making it 5-1.

That would be the end of the scoring until the bottom of the fifth inning. Sandman led off with a walk and Jaidyn Vanschoiack came into run for her.

Vanschoiack moved to second on Reganne Henning's single and both runners scored on Tavia Hausman's opposite field three run home run, extending the Beatrice lead to 8-1.

Beatrice wasn't done yet in the fifth. Jaci Berke got things going again with a single and she moved up to second on Carley Leners' single.  Morgan Mahoney came into run for Berke and she scored on Schwisow's RBI single to extend the lead to 9-1, which ended the game.

Defensively, Beatrice was able to get themselves out of a couple jams. Fairbury's first two batters reached base in the first inning, but Barnard struck out the next three batters to end the threat.

Fairbury loaded the bases in the fifth inning with nobody out, but a fielder's choice at home followed by a strikeout by Barnard and a ground out ended the threat with no runs scoring.

Barnard pitched all five innings, giving up one earned run on four hits while striking out seven and walking two.

Schwisow had three hits, two RBI's and a run scored while Aden had a double and a single and Barnard had two singles.

Hausman and Lytle had a home run each while Sandman, Henning, Berke and Leners had a single each.

Fairbury had four hits in the game including a home run and a single by Wentz. Ellie Ohlde and Jordan Tracy had a single each.

The Lady Jeffs had advanced to the game against Beatrice by beating York earlier in the day. They won an elimination game over Blue River 13-3 Thursday night. The Lady Jeffs play in another elimination game Friday at 11 a.m. against Seward.

Elsewhere in the Sunland Area, Norris won their first round game of the B-2 District 12-2 over Platteview, but then lost their second round game to Omaha Gross 9-3.
