The Beatrice girls cross country team protected their home course on a hot Thursday afternoon at Beatrice High School.
The Lady O finished first at the Beatrice Invite. They finished ahead of runner-up Waverly, third place Tri County and fourth place Wilber-Clatonia.
Wilber-Clatonia did win the boys race finishing ahead of runner-up Beatrice, followed by Waverly, Tri County, Falls City, Raymond Central and Syracuse.
Veronica Pinkerton was the top finisher for the Lady O. Her time of 23:00.87 was good enough for second place behind Tri County's Andie Koch, who finished with a time of 22:28.08.
Trinity Eichenberger was the next best finisher for Beatrice with a fourth place time of 23:10.74. Lauren Pieper finished ninth with a time of 24:18.12, Sarah Price finished 14th with a time of 26:10.37, Linda Humble finished 15th with a time of 26:22.68 and Abby Ware finished 24th with a time of 28:12.99.
In addition to Koch's first place finish, Tri County also got a third place finish from Ella Crawford with a time of 23:07.43. Taylor Koch finished 16th with a time of 26:29.08, Madison Kirchoff finished 19th with a time of 27:06.42 and Skylar Heidemann finished 21st with a time of 27:36.45.
Wilber-Clatonia had four runners in the girls race. Mikayla Pecka was their top finisher. Her time of 25:44.69 was good enough for 12th place individually.
Harley Broz, Aislim Martinez and Sierra Laschanzky finished 29th, 30th and 33rd respectively for the Lady Wolverines.
The Beatrice boys were led by Noah Hagemeier, who finished with a fifth place time of 19:08.63.
Wilber-Clatonia occupied the top two spots in the individual standings. Tommy Lokken won with a time of 18:29.70 while Dawson Hoover was second with a time of 18:35.96.
Tri County's Logan Larson finished third individually in the boys race with a time of 18:39.28.
Evan Oltmans was Beatrice's next best finisher. He finished right behind Hagemeier in sixth place with a time of 19:10.31. Connor Hamilton finished eighth for the Orangemen with a time of 19:33.54 while Devon Busboom finished 18th with a time of 21:14.10.
Rounding out the Orangemen lineup was Jaden Guernsey finishing 26th and Ashton Barber finishing 29th.
In addition to Lokken and Hoover finishing first and second for Wilber-Clatonia, Logan Herndon finished ninth with a time of 19:39.16 and Pedro Hernandez finished 16th with a time of 21:02.94.
Luke Sykes and Garrett Pecka rounded out the Wilber-Clatonia lineup with finishes of 24th and 25th place.
Tri County's next best finisher after Larson was Krayten Uher finishing 20th with a time of 21:21.44. Carter Holtmeier finished 23rd with a time of 21:35.58. Nick Scheele finished 45th for the Trojans.
