OMAHA -- The Beatrice wrestling team finished third out of seven teams Saturday at the River Cities Conference Meet at Ralston High School.
Beatrice finished with 172.5 points, which put them behind Omaha Skutt (234) and Ralston (187).
The Orangemen finished ahead of South Sioux City (108), Mount Michael (84), Omaha Gross (67) and Omaha Roncalli (7).
"The guys finished really well tonight," said Beatrice Coach Jordan Johnson. "We had some guys filling and did a really nice job."
Beatrice had two individual champions. Tanner York placed first in the 106-pound division, scoring pinfall wins in his first two rounds and a 13-5 major decision over Skutt's Nate Rubino in the championship.
Ben Garland won the 132-pound division, scoring pinfall wins in all four of his matches, including a pinfall win over South Sioux City's Marcos Rodriguez in the championship.
"Tanner (York) majored Cadet Fargo All American in Greco, Nate Rubino," Johnson said. "He is really finding his rhythm on his feet and is able to set a fast pace. Ben wrestled extremely well, recording four pins and also set a blistering pace on his feet."
Drew Arnold finished second in the 113-pound division, losing to last year's state champion Caleb Lazure 3-1.
"Drew wrestled a great match, but just gave up a late takedown," Johnson said.
Jason Stevens finished second in 182-pound division, recording two pins and a tech fall in the process.
Kaleb Dayhuff, Quintin Hartig, Dylan Bassinger, Sean Pinkerton and Aaron Shumaker all placed third. Zach Markey and Caleb Ridgley both stepped up and placed second and third respectively.
"We had some kids start off slow but it was nice to see them respond and end the tournament well," Johnson said. "I believe these kids are ready to go next week. We will fine tune some things this week and then districts on Friday."
The Orangemen will be hosting districts this Friday and Saturday at the Ozone.
