Mother Nature continues to hinder NU baseball

It might not be below freezing, but the weather continues to ruin the Nebraska baseball season.

This time, it’s the rain hitting Lincoln that caused the cancellation of the Huskers home series against New Mexico State scheduled for Friday through Sunday.

The series will not be made up and the athletic department will issue refunds for those who purchased tickets through the Nebraska ticket office.

It marks the third time the Nebraska athletic department has been forced to cancel games scheduled for Hawks Field at Haymarket Park this season. NU canceled the original home opener against Omaha that was scheduled for March 5.

Then, last week, the Huskers canceled a contest against North Dakota State that was scheduled for today.

Nebraska also had its game against No. 12 Mississippi State — scheduled for March 3 in Frisco, Texas — canceled.

The Huskers (6-7) are currently scheduled to open their home season on March 19 against Air Force. That is a two-game series before Nebraska begins Big Ten play against Michigan State at home beginning on Friday March 22.
