Three people were arrested Friday morning after a stolen gun was recovered during a traffic stop.
On Friday at around 2:30 a.m. a Beatrice police officer spotted a red Nissan Altima driving in the 21oo block of North Sixth Street with a broken headlight.
A traffic stop was conducted near Industrial Row and the officer saw a rear passenger shoving something into the waistband of his pants. Arrest documents state the officer asked the man, identified as 18-year-old Pedro Gutierrez Jr., what it was, and he said marijuana. The suspects were removed from the vehicle, and a front passenger identified as 18-year-old Pierce Jackson, also allegedly told police he had marijuana in his pants.
The driver, identified as Marcus Lamar, 20, said he borrowed the vehicle from a friend in Wichita, Kan. During a search a Taurus 9mm pistol was found under a passenger seat. The serial number belonged to a gun stolen out of Wichita. Records noted that Lamar, a convicted felon, is not allowed to possess a firearm.
He was placed under arrest for possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of marijuana and inoperable headlights.
Gutierrez was arrested for possession of a stolen firearm and possession of marijuana.
Jackson, a convicted felon, was arrested for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of marijuana.
