Big Blue Bike Company officially opened in October 2023 after cyclists Eric and Jamie Kielian noticed that Beatrice had been missing a bicycle shop for many years. They opened the shop to make cycling accessible for every age and riding style, bringing together their passions for riding, mechanics and community.  

In this Q&A, owners the Kielians share the story behind their bike shop.

What makes your store/service unique? 

Big Blue Bike Company is a locally owned and operated bicycle shop. We offer bicycle and tricycle sales (pedal and electric), accessories and repair services for all kinds of cyclists. We have a weekly group ride from April to October on the local trail system.

 What do you love about being part of the local business community?

I love engaging with the local community and supporting each unique individual in their cycling journey. Nothing is better than seeing the smile on someone’s face, young or old, whether they are riding for the first time or getting back in the saddle again! I enjoy collaborating with other local businesses and I am appreciative of the support we all have for one another.

What are your most popular products/services? 

Electric tricycle and kids’ bicycle sales and repair services.

Keeping dollars local and better personalized customer service.

Anything else you want customers to know? 

We have remodeled our building at 8th and Market Street to offer a different recreational activity to the community 24/7/365. Swing 365 Golf Beatrice is a membership-based, private indoor golf simulator that opened Nov. 25. It is the perfect place for beginners or skilled golfers to enjoy a round of golf solo or with friends and family, relax and take their game to the next level.
