Raise a glass to community at Tall Tree Tastings in Beatrice

Tall Tree Tastings wine bar and event space has become one of Beatrice’s favorite places to unwind, share a laugh and enjoy a good pour. With its friendly atmosphere, local flavors and a knack for bringing people together, it is no surprise the shop has become a cherished neighborhood stop.  

Below, owner Denise Pahl shares what makes Tall Tree Tastings such a special place to sip, savor and stay awhile. 

How did your business get started?

In 2016, I knew I would be able to retire from teaching soon. I love helping people celebrate happy times. I love planning parties and events, so Tall Tree was a natural fit. 

What makes your store unique?

I am a very hands-on business owner. No bottle of wine gets served at Tall Tree unless I have a glass or bottle of it myself. I think it is important to know your products and know your customers. My customers who had elementary kids, now, almost 10 years later, have teenage kids. It is fun to form relationships, share people’s lives and plan events that people enjoy. 

What do you love about being part of the local business community?

Being part of the community was a priority from the first day I opened the doors. When Jesus blesses you, you turn around and bless the people around you. Beatrice is a big little town. When tragedy hits the community, people generously help out. I am willing to help out and make someone’s day or circumstances better. 

What are your most popular products or events?

Events such as Music Bingo and Sip and Shops are always popular. I designed three wine labels that are available only from Tall Tree. The 82117 Eclipse Wine is long gone, but Bliss and Unwind are in good supply and a huge hit. 

What makes shopping local great?

I often get a wild hair or an idea and start talking to my business neighbors. The idea turns into reality with their help. Collaboration makes everyone successful.
