NGage lists available sites in the Industrial Park that are available for development on its website hoping to draw interest to the community. This area is 8.75 acres.
The NGage Board of Directors recently reviewed two proposals for an industrial siting study.
Gage Area Growth Enterprise (NGage) is a countywide economic development group. The organization works to create opportunities for businesses to start, grow or move to Gage County, while also increasing economic opportunities for individuals and families through good jobs with positive workforce skills.
The target industries are advanced manufacturing, logistics, distribution, health care related businesses, and agriculture related businesses.
Director Rachel Kreikemeier spoke on the project during her quarterly report to the Beatrice City Council on Feb. 3.
“We as a board discussed looking for additional land for development throughout the county,” she said. “We did some advertising with Site Selection Magazine on some of the industrial sites that we already have here and we’re generating quite a few leads. We’re excited to explore those.”
The organization is also working with Global Site Location Industry, which also generated several leads.
Kreikemeier said that solidified the need for additional industrial sites throughout the county.
“We’re focusing on a few different areas of the county that might be prime for that type of development. Our goal is to identify eight potential locations across the county, which will then be narrowed down to a select few for further site development,” she said.
NGage also continues workforce development efforts, including talent pipeline in job shadowing, internship or school-to-work.
Kreikemeier said the organization is also working on the renewal process for the city of Beatrice’s Economic Development Certified Community Certification.
“The EDCC Certification is sponsored by the Nebraska Diplomats. It’s all about preparedness for economic development and desired growth. Becoming certified signifies to employers and potential newcomers that EDCCs have the essential ingredients for economic opportunity,” she said.
Ther are 37 other EDDCs in Nebraska.
She noted she continues to work with existing primary employers, state and regional partners, local stakeholders, and site selectors from throughout the United States.
